'WHO ARE YOU' OUT NOW
Baileigh Jane’s recently released single, "‘Who Are You’, was written in 2020 as a song about trust issues and searching for closure. “I wrote this song like: one part ‘Can you trust them?’, and one part, ‘Can you trust yourself?’”, Baileigh explains. It started as a folk song, with an acoustic fingerstyle guitar hook that drove the haunting melody of the lyrics. But post-production would go on to be inspired by modern alternative R&B artists like Faye Webster and Steve Lacy for their nostalgic soundscapes and soulful harmonies. Baileigh worked with James Littier on the drums, mix, and master for this track. Sliding guitar riffs, swelling dynamics, and a sombre string symphony outro make “Who Are You” a song that might not give you answers, but will definitely leave you searching for them.
Winter just got a lot more reflective
“One thing I love about a song like this,” says Baileigh, “is how much I’ve changed over the years writing, composing, producing and performing it, and how it’s become a time capsule of my growth, with every part to how I’ve started it, how I’ve finished it, and how I’ll be sharing it”
