Meet the Artist
Baileigh Jane has made their return to the indie scene this year with their breakout single, “Nonissue”. As a southern queer artist originally from Florida, now living in Brookyln, their sliding guitar riffs and soulful melodies lend a coastal twang to modern day indie pop. Inspirations range from pop and r&b to jazz, funk and psychedelic genres, all of which can be heard in their recently released 'Transitions' EP.
Baileigh’s musical journey started at the age of five, when they wrote their first lyrical song about the passing of their maternal grandmother (whom they’re named after). From then, they picked up a number of instruments over the years and fell in love with the process of songwriting and composition. Baileigh eventually went on to study jazz guitar in college which led them to become a multi-instrumental music teacher for over 6 years.
While they still have a passion for teaching, they now book and host queer music showcases throughout the NYC area under their label, Conduit Media, and co-own a queer cannabis social club with their wife known as Dank Dykes. Baileigh Jane has always been a storyteller and connector, which can be felt and heard through their songwriting or seen throughout their life through the different community spaces they cultivate.
Previously, they released 15 tracks under projects such as Conduit and Community Sugar. Six of those tracks from their previously released, Only Human EP (2021), went on to be self-published in 9 different major sync music libraries such as MTV, E!TV, PBS, USA, TLC, OWN and NETFLIX as a one-stop artist. They also reached over 80 different college radio stations with their Only Human EP release.
Baileigh hopes to reach even more listeners with their recent ‘Transitions’ EP which explores genre and emotion, while showcasing their range and consistencies as a songwriter, producer and musical artist. You can learn more about their latest release here from their interview with Pario Magazine.
Transitions are all about pivotal moments, changing perspectives, and they give way to a dynamism that represents life’s resiliency, life’s perseverance. Life often comes with a diversity of experience, the ups and downs, good and bad, what’s heavy to talk about and easy to bring up. I wanted this project to be a similar exploration through my use of genre, story and emotion.
